We have been learning about what makes someone a leader this year in Social Studies. First we read books and researched about different community helpers. Then we invited in some community helpers to share with us about what makes them a leader and how they help our community!
A Montgomery County Police Officer came to speak with all the second graders. He taught us about his job and how he helps to keep us safe. Then he took us out to the playground and showed us how he uses radar to catch speeders. He had each of us run across the blacktop and it recorded how fast we ran!
We had a Dental Hygienist come visit us and she taught us about why it is importnat to keep our teeth clean and brush 2x a day!
She helped to educate us about good and bad foods to eat and we each got a new tooth brush!

We had the local fire department come visit us at school and they taught us about how they help the community! They even brought over their truck so we could sit in the drivers seat!

Mr. Clarke even came to read and share with us about his job! He has lots of responsibillities in our school and is a very important leader to us! We hope he will come and read to us again soon!
